Engagement Photography for Heather, Marc & Rusty (P1)
Categories: Blog
Welcome to the first part sharing the photography from Heather and Marc’s Engagement Photography Session. We are relatively new to offering our photography as a service and we want to try and establish the fact that we aren’t new to photography in general. We hope that Heather, Marc and Rusty (their dog) really love these images! Providing their disc is very rewarding I’ve been beyond thrilled how awesome the session turned out. I know this isn’t really our first look at the session because I teased up one of the engagement shots and the black and white engagement video. There is a method to the madness here. I’ll explain why I’m doing things like this later because for now I’d like you to focus on Heather and Marc. Oh and don’t forget Rusty!
Location’s with Meaning
We want couples to advise us, as best they can, on a location that means something to them for the engagement photography session. What came to their minds was an open area park with some paths out in North London, sort of near where they live but it also has connection with family. This is a place where they can walk paths with their dog, Rusty! Rusty can be off his leash, jumping in the water, finding tennis balls, and carrying sticks. This type of activity, along with Heather and Marc, were a reminder of the precious moments out in nature instead of stuck inside at a computer. I am pretty sure Heather and Marc have no idea they provided me this reminder but I do thank them so much! Thanks guys!
The Rusty Variable
I’m a huge fan of my cat, Reese, but I loved that we were able to incorporate Rusty into the engagement photography session. As we discussed at the shoot, pets are family members and they are also a connection piece for a couple. A lot of great times with a pet can easily be connected to your significant other too. Rusty brought an awesome randomness variable to the entire session and we only tried to pose him once – A photo that you’ll see in part 2 or part 3 of this engagement photography series.
Mosquito Bites are Good Luck
The weather was more than perfect (I know, pretty awesome huh!) and I didn’t really expect any issues. However, there are some things that live out in the wild meadows known as mosquitos. I know that I got eaten alive and was recovering for a number of days later. I hope that Heather and Marc didn’t get bit as bad, but we really appreciated the fact that they didn’t complain ever.
You know that feeling of dating, getting engaged? The one that says “how did I get so lucky?” That’s how Marika and I felt with Heather and Marc. How did we get so lucky to be their wedding photographers? To say we are excited for their wedding is a total understatement. We spend about 2 hours on this engagement photography shoot and it was very worth it to not cut it off. Maybe the mosquito bites were good luck for this shoot – you never know.
More coming
I’ll be talking more about the engagement photography shoot in the upcoming parts of their series. I just wanted to mention something about one of the photos. The photo with Heather, Marc, and Rusty side by side (about 5 layers down) was unposed overall. We asked Heather and Marc to stand in the meadow and as I was about to shoot, Rusty came in and sat down beside Marc and looked where they were looking. I’m pretty sure he got some treats after that move!

How do you like the images so far? Leave some comments!
